Elder May: Chapter 101

As we watched General Conference and heard all the new and exciting changes for the church, I was very humbled to know that Elder was watching it too at the same time with families who welcomed into their home.  When the announcement that there are currently 67,049 missionaries serving throughout the world, I was grateful that two of them are ours.  When Pres. Nelson announced the new temples, I got goose bumps with each announcement.  I echo Elder May’s testimony that God lives and knows us.  I am grateful for sons who are willing to serve (even though I am not always happy about it).  We love him, we miss him and we are oh, so proud of him! Enjoy!!

Chapter 101:
1) Building life skills, even in the last month
2) Painting!
3) How many things can one prophet change in general Conference haha! I sustain every decision though!

This week we spent a lot of time packing stuff so we could move! It was pretty slow moving but it was good to get it all ready so we could move into the best apartment in the mission! It is so nice! We live in the middle of our area, in a 1200 sq. Foot apartment, overlooking a lake. We even have an elevator! To be honest though, I just might not unpack. I put everything I own in my suitcases so I might just leave it there. Not sure yet. I unpacked my white shirts, and suits but other than that it’s pretty much packed. We will see.

We also got to help a member family paint their family room which was really fun! They are awesome and moving to Utah soon and told me to visit anytime! I have no idea why we didn’t all take a picture at the time. Probably because I am moving before they are so I will still see them many times before then.

Thought this was cute...
After we moved on Friday and set up our different appointments for conference we went to the families’ home for conferences. What A Great General Conference! It started out on the spiritual high of the solemn assembly and just went uphill from them. When he announced that we won’t be reporting too much with the new way of “Ministering” one of the members we were with nearly shouted “Hallelujah!” I am excited for the chances for being more unified in our ward, motivated by love, and the diverse ways we will be able to serve Gods children. From each talk I was able to write at least one individual note for how I want to live my life or improve. It was really cool.

I love this gospel and am glad that I can keep serving. I love the Lord and am glad I can serve Him. I love my spiritual siblings and am glad I can serve them.

My new address is near 9737 Tranquility Lake Cir, apt. 304, Riverview, FL 33578 just so everyone knows.

Love you all!

Elder May: Chapter 100!!!

Love this boy and his smile!  Can't wait to squeeze him!!

As I wrote my email to Hayden for the 100th week in a row, I couldn’t help but think about when we sent him his 100-day package.  He had been in the mission field for 100 days so we sent him things that were 100 such as 100 stamps, 100 $1.00 bills, 100 skittles, 100 kit-kats and 100 M&Ms.  His 100-day mark was in July and by the time that candy got to him in Tampa – well, it was completely melted.  That all seems so long ago to me – so much has happened since that day… some good and some not so good.  Through it all, we knew that the Lord was blessing us for the dedication and sacrifice of our Elders.  As much as I don’t like it (at all), I do have a testimony of the missionary program and what it brings to those that find them as well as to the young man who comes home a man.  We love him, we miss him, we can’t wait to see him and we are oh, so proud of him!  Enjoy!!

Chapter 100:

1) Oh, no big deal!
2) Y’all can come visit me in the hospital!
3) Your friends are here!

Hi everybody! Sorry for forgetting my weekly email last week. In the words of my first companion, “I don’t have Alzheimer’s, I have Sometime-ers. I only forget things sometimes.” We had a really fun week this week here in Providence. I am here for the next and final 6 weeks of my mission and that is really exciting! I love this ward and many of the ward members were praying that I could end my mission here and they could send me home!

Our first quote is from an investigator we are teaching who is AWESOME! We gave him a copy of the Book of Mormon last week and randomly went by last Monday to see if he was able to read what we gave him. When we asked about his reading he said, “I ignored where you told me to read, started at the beginning and I’m halfway through it now. I was interested so I kept reading! I’ll be done with it by next week and you can come by then and we can talk about it!” So we will be seeing him this week! Pretty cool stuff!

Second, a man we are teaching recently had a baby. That baby wasn’t eating very well so he asked us to come pray for her. We went to the hospital and I think there should be a written rule that missionaries with less than 6 weeks left should not be allowed in the NICU because that could seriously wreck some of these baby hungry missionaries that are out here. Luckily I am battle hardened so it didn’t faze me! (Psych, it did. I realized that I am NOT anywhere near ready to have a baby!) It’s stressful stuff! Good luck Hunter and Lexi! You’re in my prayers! Anyway, we prayed for his little baby girl with him and his wife and this baby was all smiles and giggles and it was pretty cute!

Then we stopped by the house of that family which brings us to our third quote. When we went by, his wife answered and yelled up stairs, “Honey! Your friends are here!” And then we hear an excited, “THE MORMONS!!!” As he hurries downstairs like a young child on Christmas morning because he was so excited to talk to us. We talked for a while and he told us he wants his whole family to be involved, which includes like 5 teenage kids and his wife so that will be awesome!

I am really excited for this upcoming weekend to publicly sustain our new President of the Church, President Russell M. Nelson and to hear who the new apostles will be. Everyone in the mission has their guesses. Most of think that either Craig C. Christensen or Whitney L. Clayton are going into the 12 but we aren’t sure. It will be fun to watch. Please watch and please seek inspiration for improvements you can make in life to help you follow Christ more. I promise and know anything you desire to learn or understand will be answered as you listen with an open heart.
Love you all and I will see you all very soon!

Love, Elder May!

Elder May: Chapter 99

Elder Hayden talks about this below but I wanted it to be the header because the quote is awesome!!

Almost 100 weeks down... normally 4 weeks to go but Hayden actually has 6 to go.  This is his last transfer and the way transfers fell, he actually serves an extra 2 weeks.  For this last transfer, he is staying where he is with his companion which he is very excited about.  Six weeks left... I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!  We miss him and love him more and we are oh, so proud of him! Enjoy!!

Chapter 99:

1) New Investigator! Yippee!
2) When members come in clutch!
3) I like this quote

This was a fun week that ended with a lot of stress relief haha! For those who haven’t heard, I am staying in Providence for the last Transfer of my mission. I was worried I’d be moved but luckily I won’t be.

We had a solid new investigator this week. She’s the sister of a recent convert so we are excited! She has been somewhat learning about it as long as he was but hadn’t sat down for herself until this past week which was awesome!

Then we had 100% of our lessons with a members present. Then a member came with us from 4-7 and then had us over for dinner after. It was a great time!

I found this quote from President Hinckley too and loved it (see above)  I loved it so I wanted to share it.

God is good and He loves us. I love you all and will talk to you next week. WEEK 100!!!

I love you all!

Love Elder May
