Elder May – Chapter 60

Finding out in my letter that he had “wiped” out on his bike made me a little more than nervous that they are riding their bikes in downpouring rain.  Grateful for kind ward members to help them and rescue them.  Please continue to pray for Elder May and Elder Swapp that they may find those searching for the gospel and those searching will have their hearts opened or softened when they hear the words of the Lord.  We miss him so much, we love him even more – but we are oh, so proud of him!  Enjoy!!

Chapter 60
1.      How were people saying we are in a drought in Florida?
2.      Mission Road Trips are the best.
3.      Zone Conference and a Conference Call with President?
4.      That moment when biking home in the rain gets a whole lot less fun.....
5.      That moment when the mission gets a whole lot more fun and Members take you out for lunch and dinner

This week POURED rain. Malachi 3:10 says:

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Heavenly Father poured us out a lot of blessings. That's where the first quote is from.

Second, we got to drive with our Elders we share the car with to Zone Conference and Elder Swapp decided to take a selfie. So great. We drove a lot that day.

Speaking of Zone Conference, we got to have zone Conference. It was fun to see Elder Durrant and Elder Peterson and learn from our mission President. We talked about obedience, key indicators, baptism, and finding. It was great. Then we got to have another call as the "leaders" in the mission to explain what our district Meeting will be like so that is all planned out and ready to go for Tuesday.

Fourth, I wrecked on my bike. It got a lot less fun. I only skinned my hand and knee so I am good. And then the next day got a whole lot better!

One of the best couples in the ward came out from 12-6 and bought us lunch and dinner! We went to a British pub and Chik-fil-a and it was goooood. It was a good week and we are excited to go hard on missionary work this next week. So exciting.

Love you all. Peace out Girl Scout!!!

Elder May - Chapter 58 & 59

Love and miss this boy like crazy but oh, so proud of him!! Enjoy!!

Chapter 58 and 59

      1.      POP!
      2.      can we share a message of Christ with you? WHAT? Sweet
      3.      Wow these referrals are working out!
      4.      You can get your own ride to church now
      5.      I want to take another picture
Sorry about last week. I totally ran out of time. I am working on that. This week's will be combined with last and we will start out with another popped tire.

My front tire has had a slow leak for a while. Well it was pretty fast but it wasn't just constantly flat so we will call it a slow leak. Tuesday evening (after we had Tuesday preparation day) we were just about to head out on the bikes. Very few things are louder than a tire exploding, in an all tile apartment, when you have no furniture. It was insane. Wednesday morning was spent walking to a bike shop. Only took us an hour though and then the member called to pick us up.

Sometimes as a missionary you secretly do some stuff so you can talk to people. One of those is to say "Hi Sir how are you?" loud enough that they can hear you and then quietly say "can we share a message about Christ with you?" So they can't really hear you and walk down to talk to you. That happened last week when we met a new guy named Aaron. He was up at his door and Elder Swapp called up to him. Then when he came walking down to us Elder Swapp looked at me and said "sweet" under his breath. Pretty great time.

This past week the Spanish elders and sisters have found a ton of English people for us to teach and contacting them this week helped us out a ton. All of them are interested in learning more so we are going to begin teaching them. Tender mercies to help reach our goals.

Fourth, we met with Kim and she is loving the friendship she feels at the church and the Spirit so we gave her her rides phone number and told her she can call for a ride if she wanted to come. She also came this week by week the way for Sacrament Meeting. She is doing great and going to a movie night at the church without us because it was last minute. Be there if I could.

Last, Ochan called us to meet him and before meeting him he made sure to get in a white shirt and tie for another picture. I will get that next week.

Elder May - Chapter 57

When I read through Elder May’s letters/emails this week, I was moved and humbled by the outpouring of love that our missionaries feel from those around them when they are not at home.  I hope we are able to do the same for those serving in our area.  I am grateful for the blessing that our missionary has a senior couple missionary that looks after them and helps them when they are unsure what to do next.  Glad that all is taken care of and they can get back to missionary work.  Love him, miss him but oh, so proud of him!  Enjoy!!
Chapter 57:

      1.      this was, without a doubt, the longest week of my mission
      2.      I forgot how to teach it had been so long
      3.      And then came the miracle

As the first quote says, I had a long week. Blame it on the bedbugs. Monday and Tuesday was spent preparing the apartment for the exterminator to on Wednesday. Our apartment senior missionary, elder Culbertson, is an angel. Not only did he take care of the scheduling for the exterminator to come, he also paid for our dry cleaning for our suits and set up so we would be in a hotel for the night. Then disaster struck. We come back to the apartment after they sprayed on Wednesday only to find out they hadn't sprayed at all! We had all of our clothing in black garbage bags in the car and we checked the apartment, nothing was moved our sprayed. We figured out that we were supposed to prep the apartment, then call the exterminator and arrange payment and a time. We were just told they are coming on Wednesday so get ready. Elder Culbertson called scheduled everything and paid for another two nights at the hotel. This entire time we were asked not to teach so none of our investigators get bedbugs. It was a long week but as far as we know it is all fixed now. Don't get bedbugs.

After this long time of not teaching, we had a scheduled appointment with a less active and her niece. We went by to share the plan of salvation and during the lesson I was stumbling on what to say because it had been so long! Crazy stuff. It eventually went well and I remember how to teach again.
Third, we found a temporary ride for a progressing investigator of ours and she came to church and received answers to get questions. She doesn't believe it is all true yet but she is learning and understanding more and more. She absolutely loves relief society.

I am grateful for the blessing of having a testimony of the restored gospel. I am grateful that I've been blessed to come to the world in a time that we have all the truth. I know Christ is my savior. I know God is grateful to have each one of us come to this life with a determination to make it back to Him. I am grateful I get to be a missionary and share the most hopeful and joyous message with all who I get to meet. I love you all and am very thankful with the examples you set as Latter Day Saints because that is the main thing people notice when they mention the church, is the happy and faithful example of the members. It makes our job as missionaries much easier. Thanks for being fantastic missionaries.

Love you all!  Elder May
